Texas Country Steak


2 pounds of ground beef or similar meats

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of pepper

1-2 cups of cornmeal

2 cups of vegetable oil (maybe more or less)


  1. Make beef patties into desired shape and size flattened 1/2 inch thick and even.
  2. Combine cornmeal, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and coat patties.(not too much)
  3. Heat a cup of cooking oil in a frying pan and place patties in and let fry until crispy. (10-20 minutes)
  4. Let cool a few minutes.

Note: Best served with gravy, French fries, dirty rice, mashed potatoes, and/or greens.
